Lucas & the ball

Lucas loves soccer. He's a natural with the ball. I don't know many nineteen month olds who can kick so well.. and with such enthusiasm. I love how awesome he is. He is lovely.

He is also a lot of work. But we love to see how fast he gets things, how fast he moves, how fast he grows.

He loves passing the ball around, and he does so well :). Excuse the mixed weather outfit.. :) We're still waiting for the cold weather to really pass here. It's sorta a sunny, cool spring still.. :)...

There's going to be a lot of soccer going on in our house, I can tell. He already says the word 'ball' clearly ;) :) and he knows what he wants! :)

Weekend Pics

We spent our long weekend in beautiful Kananaskis Country. We saw deer, we picnicked and we even watched the water flow into the Elbow river at Elbow Falls. It was splendid.

Here are some pics from our weekend.

Still getting over the amazement of the weekend and of the overwhelming natural beauty of the Rockies and its surroundings. Still hoping we catch a mountain goat or two when we go out there. But no bears. Absolutely no bears.

:)

Happy week ahead campers!! :)

A lovely May weekend

It has been an awesome, busy, full, exciting weekend.

Highlights include a trip to the Kannanaskis National Park, Thomas the Tank Engine rides, celebrating Norwegian National Day and Mother's Day of course.

In many ways, starting the week is as much of a relief as ending last week. So many 'ticks' off an imagined check list of things to do. And doing a little more to ensure that life just goes on beautifully and everyone has more than just a bit of fun.

This is going to be a photo heavy post, because, well, maybe I haven't been taking as many photos as I've wanted to.  (so you've been warned)

The weather in Calgary has been beautiful. We've had almost 30 degrees celsius temperatures regularly and that's a big deal in this mountain climate. Shorts and t-shirts all around, and such lovely temperatures also mean outdoor picnics and hikes and sunny photos.

This past weekend has gone by so fast but so fulfilling too. There were some errands like gardening stuff that needed to be bought and used on a fast-growing lawn, and there were appointments to be fulfilled like our date with Thomas the Tank Engine who visits Calgary's Heritage Park every year, also the Norwegians in Calgary held our annual 17th of May National Constitution Day celebrations a little bit early since no one gets off from work here on the actual 17th :). We've been driving around trying to do everything, but also were able to take a mini trip out to the Kananaskis National Park near Bragg Creek where we found a picnic spot thanks to the guidelines in an article from the Calgary's Child magazine.

Here are some photos from that trip.

Lucas had such a wonderful time throwing mini stones in the water. He just loved it! It was awful to try to take him away because he screamed since he didn't want to leave at all!

On Sunday we woke up to a Mother's Day which promised to be eventful. Although I got to 'sleep in', we had to get up, then make a fun cake to take to the Norwegian party. But before the party, we headed to Heritage Park to meet this little blue engine.

We then headed home and we got to meet the 100+ Norwegians who came to celebrate the upcoming Norwegian National Constitution Day. Lucas got to play and so did the other kids. Really well-organised fun and socialising too. Lucky us.

We're coming back to a busy week again and I'm looking forward to getting back to 'real life'.

This week Lara has some school activities we're looking forward to participating in! I even got some nice news from Scrapbook Trends for another layout to be published. Really nice.

So here's to a good fun week ahead.

I'm fine, how are you?

Granted, my earlier desire to blog a little bit more this year has been thwarted a little this past month. It's been particularly busy since Lara started skating three times a week and tap dancing once a week. Yikes. There's swimming, play groups, groceries, library, and a school carnival to help plan. So excuse the busy-ness right here :).

Nevertheless, memories are being made every day. And the grass is slowly greening here in the mountain regions of Calgary. After the horrid snowfall we had on Saturday, the grass was made even greener, and as a result, the dandelion weeds are also making an appearance here on our lawn. Much to Lara's happiness.

We're enjoying our Zoo Pass at the wonderful Calgary Zoo. We got the chance to take a trip on Friday afternoon, when there were less people and finally got in to the famous Penguin Exhibit. The penguins have recently arrived in Calgary and have been coveted every weekend. The lines were up to 2hours long!

But Lucas finally got in! And he had a great time - the pic on the left was his expression right after the penguins SPLASHED on him! :) It was really fun! Luc is also at an age when he's noticing EVERYTHING and animals is a big favorite of his!

While I slowly work through my Project Life (getting the photos printed is a big chore these days -- boo for no photo printer), and work on a few tutorials for assignments, I'm also enjoying playing with my camera again. :)

Here are some shots from a birthday party this past weekend :)

This week is going to be no less busy with the schedules, but that's all good. I'm looking forward to our move, so am slowly working on purging all of my personal items (that means scrapbooking stuff) :) and I'm hoping to get through my lists.

Hence, the lack of posted pics of layouts this week!

Will be back with more soon though. Promise.

Have a lovely week ahead!

Midweek layout sneaks

I have been busy creating this past weekend and I'm so pleased to be able to share these Bella Blvd layout sneaks with you :).

I think I'm going through an embellishments kick right now. I'm in love with fussy-cutting and playing and I can't wait to show you the rest of this page!

We're restarting the crazy schedule with three skating sessions and a tap dancing session every week until the end of June. It'll be a crazy blast and I'm not sure myself how I'll manage. Nevertheless, these things to get done and we will make sure to keep our chins up and keep the wheels turning over here.

I can't believe it's already May! April seems to have gone by in a flash despite all the things we've done :). Taking each day as it comes takes a new meaning when the days flash by. There's a new house, more activities for both children, school carnival that I'm helping with, and the new scrapbooking adventures I'm going to be embarking on... :). I am excited! :) :)

Happy Wednesday dear friends :)

A home sweet house

A happy Monday to you all :). We're still excited about our house purchase and we can't wait to do pretty things to it inside. It's got a lot of potential and given that this is our first ever house purchase, it's rather exciting. You can bet, I've been doing a lot of inspiration searching online, and in magazines!

It's so much fun to think about - and I'm sure there'll be a lot of work in store too :).

Ideas that catch our eyes right now include:

It's an exciting prospect for sure and I can't wait to get in the house again. August only seems like a world away :).

Moving is going to be a big one this time around, even if the 'move' is really just down the street.. I'm so glad that we have the time lag between now and the move to actually plan it. But there's so much to do in between so planning is a big part of my life right now.. everything from lists to orders, to purchasing items .. needs to be planned out :). For an organised freak it can be good but still.. a lot of things that keep the excitement going around here, for sure.

Hoping you're having an exciting day where you are too :).

xo.
